Banking Details
For security reasons and your protection, our banking details are available on request from the school office or send us an email or WhatsApp message.
Should you receive an email that our banking details have changed, this is most likely a scam. We will communicate any change in banking details properly through formal communication. If in doubt, please confirm with the school principal or teacher.
Communications
A monthly digital newsletter will be sent via the class WhatsApp group. Other communication regarding classes will also be done via the WhatsApp groups and only school-related information will be posted and allowed on the WhatsApp groups. If you need to discuss something with the class teacher, please contact her directly and not in the class group.
Please join our Rainbow Kids Paarl Facebook and Instagram accounts. Regular posts about our daily activities will be made on these platforms. Please like and share our posts.
Drop-off and Pick-up
Drop-off in the morning is between 07:00 and 08:00.
Due to limited parking and high traffic in the immediate area, we have a drop-and-go in the morning. One of the teachers or class assistants will take your child to his/her class.
Parents are also welcome to accompany their children to their classes. Please limit parking time, especially in the area in front of the school on Zeederberg Street and the drop-off gate on Theron Street.
When fetching your child in the afternoon, please ring the bell at the main entrance or the gate on Theron Street. The gate will be buzzed open. Please check that the gate is properly closed before you proceed. You will be allowed to fetch your child from his/her class.
If someone other than yourself is fetching your child from school, it is important to notify the class teacher, either by phoning the school or via WhatsApp.
The First Day of School
Children react differently to new experiences. Until they adjust to their new school environment, it is not unusual for a child to have a tearful separation from his/her parent. Be assured, they will be comforted until they feel secure.
We suggest that you, before arrival, discuss his/her new routine and coming to school with your child. Telling him/her what to expect helps to ease the anxiety. It might take a week or two for him/her to feel at ease in his/her new environment.
Clothing and What To Bring To School
ALL CLOTHING, BOTTLES AND BAGS MUST BE MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME.
- Please dress your child in older clothes.
Messy activities are extremely important for his/her development. - Lunchbox for 10:00 snack.
- Water or juice (NO fizzy drinks).
- Clean change of clothes and underwear.
Eating healthy is a lifestyle, not a diet.
Please do not send any sweets to school in the lunchbox from Monday to Thursday. Friday is treat day, and a sweet or chocolate is allowed.
We strive to teach children a healthy eating lifestyle from a very young age. A document with suggestions on healthy snack boxes can be e-mailed to you on request.
We have a strict “NO toy to school” policy. Toys break, get lost and cause trouble. Please do not send any toys to school, unless it is a “soother” to take naps with. We will not accept any responsibility for lost, broken or missing toys.
Meals
Breakfast and lunch are prepared on the premises daily. The menu will be provided on a Monday for the week.
No child will be allowed to eat breakfast or lunch from home at school, except for medical reasons.
A snack will be provided in the afternoon.
Daily Programmes
Each class has a daily routine to suit the age group of the children. The daily routine will be discussed and handed out at the first parents’ meeting of the year.
Birthdays
Birthdays are very special and therefore we encourage you to celebrate it at school. It is not compulsory.
You are welcome to send a birthday cake/cupcakes. If you choose to provide party packs, consider sweets that are not a choking hazard. No bubble gum (for example Pin Pop lollipops) please.
Health and Medical
Illness
We want to prevent the spread of diseases among children and staff.
Children with a high fever or infectious disease may not attend school and can return to school with a confirming medical certificate or after they have had no fever, without medication, for at least 24 hours.
If a child falls ill or is injured at school, parents will be notified immediately and requested to fetch the child as soon as possible.
CURRENT CONTACT INFORMATION IS THEREFORE VERY IMPORTANT.
Medicine
Only prescribed medication will be administered at school.
Extramural Activities
Kinderkinetics is included in the school fees for ALL children.
Activities offered at the school for the year depend on the number of enrolments.
Activities take place during school hours. During the first 2 weeks of the 1st term, all extra mural activities will be demonstrated at school. All children can take part in these demo lessons. After the demo lessons, you can decide which activities you would like to enrol your child. You will receive a timetable for the extramural activities.
Fees for the above are additional and must be paid directly to the person/instructor responsible for the specific activity.
